Life at ISCT

Pastoral Care

Pastoral care lies at the heart of the ISCT Key Stage 5 experience, shaping both our academic progress and personal development. In our close-knit community, we understand that the wellbeing of each student is crucial to their growth. We believe that for students to truly flourish, they need an environment where they feel safe, fulfilled, and most importantly, happy. The exceptional standard of pastoral care we offer ensures that every student, at every stage of their Key Stage 5 journey, has the confidence to engage fully and achieve their potential.

Student Leadership

A prefect system operates in the high school and prefects are there to assist with the smooth running of the school and to help any student who requests it. A class prefect will be assigned to each tutor class and students will have the opportunity to get to know them during class tutor sessions. Prefects assist in various aspects of the day-to-day running of the school and through this develop their leadership abilities. Students need to prove their worth to be eligible to become a prefect. Each student doing the AS level course is allocated a portfolio of responsibility which, if they handle well, will make them eligible to serve as a prefect. Prefects are elected in the fourth term from those Year 11s who are eligible and they take office after the Year 12 students go on study leave. Two Head Prefects are elected by the high school students and staff to run the prefect body.

Tertiary Lessons

Weekly tertiary lessons are provided to guide students through their post-school pathways, offering support with university applications, career planning, and essential documentation. These sessions ensure students are well-prepared for higher education by assisting with personal statements, recommendation letters, and application processes. Guidance is given on university selection, and meeting international admission requirements, equipping students with the tools needed for a smooth transition to tertiary education. Students are encouraged to consult with the Head of Student Support & PSHE as well as the Director of Academics for individual support.

Year 12 Facilities

Key Stage 5 students make use of study spaces around the school campus. This includes designated spaces and the library, encouraging students to make use of their non-contact lessons to study in a silent and uninterrupted space. In the common room area students can collaborate, relax and socialise.
