My two daughters stayed at the International School Cape Town when our family was working in South Africa from April 2007 to December 2009 – we now return to the UK. I would recommend the school to any international families and/or UK expatriates primarily because of the academic standards of the English Cambridge curriculum taught. This with a view to my daughter attending a UK or other International University in future. A key consideration for me was that the local South African kids tend to start school far later in their locals schools compared to those in the UK – however, at ISCT the curriculum mirror that age/standards of the better schools in the UK – so moving from UK to South Africa, then South Africa back to the UK is seamless for our family. This is particularly important as the kids get towards age 15-16 when they take their GCSE exams. My two girls made very good progress and the academic standard is very high. The school is also medium sized – not too big or small – which was good for us. I like the diversity of the students, and the community spirit is good. The parent functions are always well attended and professionally run. The senior school also has some very good results I understand and strong community feel. The student numbers have been rising over the years and there is a new extension being build – a good sign that the school is on the right track. When I have spoken to staff, what impresses me is the drive to continually improve and not be satisfied with prior or current achievements. — Parent
